HISTORY

The History Behind the Armory FC Logo
The Armory FC logo is a bold emblem that captures the spirit of its founder, its hometown, and the game itself. Though the club is new, its identity is deeply rooted in tradition, personal passion, and local significance.

Armory FC was established by Michael Nichols, a longtime football enthusiast from Belton, Missouri. Before founding Armory, Nichols was a part-owner of Real Overland Park, a club whose name and logo he also created. That club’s name—Real—was a direct tribute to Nichols’ favorite team growing up, Real Madrid. But when it came time to start something of his own, Nichols looked closer to home.

Belton, MO, became the natural location for his new venture—not just because it’s where Nichols lives, but because of its strong military presence. The name “Armory” was chosen as a nod to this identity, inspired by the U.S. Army Reserve Center located in the city, along with the former Richards-Gebaur Air Force Base and the current U.S. Marine Corps Prior Service Station. These institutions reflect Belton’s proud military heritage, and the club’s name honors that legacy.

The cannon at the heart of the logo represents that military strength and tradition. It’s also a subtle homage to Arsenal FC, another club that has inspired Nichols over the years.

The color scheme—green, gold, and white—is a blend of Nichols’ personal favorites, chosen to give the badge a bold yet classic feel. The fleur-de-lis icons add a European touch of elegance and legacy, while the laurel branches flanking the cannon symbolize victory and aspiration.

While the story of Armory FC is just beginning, the logo already carries deep meaning. It stands as a symbol of hometown pride, respect for service, and a lifelong love for the game.
