Crown Villa is officially seeking a new owner or ownership group to lead the club into its next chapter. Based in the vicinity of downtown Kansas City, Crown Villa represents a unique opportunity for a business-minded leader who wants to build something special in the local soccer community.
A Club with Room to Grow
Crown Villa has the foundation of a proper grassroots club: a place in the Select League, a connection to the greater Kansas City soccer scene, and the framework of a competitive environment. What it needs now is an ownership group ready to step in, take responsibility, and put its own stamp on the project—within the structure of the League rules and handbook.
The club is currently open and available. Once ownership is approved, Crown Villa becomes your club to operate, shape, and grow, as long as all League rules and standards are followed.
Who Should Consider Ownership?
The ideal owner (or ownership group) will:
Be business minded, comfortable thinking about budgets, branding, and community outreach.
Have at least basic knowledge of the game of soccer—you don’t need to be a former pro, but you should understand the sport and respect the culture around it.
Be willing to work within the League’s rules and handbook, which provide structure, competitive balance, and standards for all clubs.
This is an opportunity that sits at the intersection of sport, community, and entrepreneurship.
Key Responsibilities of Ownership
Owning Crown Villa is more than just having your name on a crest. The League expects active, engaged leadership that will move the club forward. Major responsibilities include:
1. Promoting the Club in the Community Owners are expected to be the club’s biggest advocates—online, in person, and throughout the downtown KC area. That means:
Building a local following through social media, word of mouth, and local partnerships
Connecting with neighborhood businesses, supporters, and community groups
Ensuring Crown Villa is visible, approachable, and rooted in the community
2. Hiring a Head Coach & Building a Roster The owner will be responsible for identifying and appointing a head coach who shares the club’s vision and values. From there, the owner and coach will work together to:
Recruit players who can compete in the Select League
Establish a clear playing identity and club standards
Build a culture that players and supporters are proud to be part of
3. Securing Sponsorships Sponsorships are a major part of making an amateur club sustainable. Ownership will be responsible for:
Approaching local businesses and potential partners
Creating sponsorship packages (shirt sponsors, sleeve sponsors, banner ads, social media features, etc.)
Maintaining positive relationships with sponsors and representing them professionally
4. Finding a Home Field Crown Villa’s identity is tied to the greater downtown Kansas City area, and the goal is to secure a home field either in the downtown core or as close to it as possible. The owner will:
Explore field options (school facilities, community fields, existing stadiums, etc.)
Coordinate field rentals, schedules, and matchday operations
Help create a proper “home” atmosphere for players and supporters
Financial Considerations
Exact costs will vary depending on:
How much the club collects in player fees
How successful the club is in securing sponsorships
The cost of facilities, kits, referees, and operations
However, ownership also has opportunities to offset costs, including:
Ticket sales on matchdays
Merchandise sales (scarves, shirts, hats, etc.)
Additional community events, fundraisers, or partnerships
Within the boundaries of the League rules and the Select League handbook, the financial model is flexible and leaves room for creativity.
Freedom Within Structure
Once you agree to and abide by the League’s rules, Crown Villa is yours to operate as you see fit. You will have the freedom to:
Shape the club’s culture, identity, and future
Decide how to engage supporters and sponsors
Build a long-term vision—whether that’s competing for titles, growing a strong local fan base, or becoming a model community club
The League provides the structure; ownership provides the ambition.
