Introducing the KCAFF Kansas City Soccer Pyramid: A Bold Step Toward Regional Soccer Excellence

The Kansas City Association Football Federation (KCAFF) is proud to announce the formation of a unified regional soccer pyramid aimed at elevating the competitive landscape of the beautiful game in the Kansas City metro area. At the heart of this new structure are two interconnected leagues: the Select League and the Challenger League.

A Two-Tiered Pyramid Built for Local Passion

The KCAFF pyramid is designed to prioritize local competition, minimize travel, and provide a clear path for ambitious clubs to rise through the ranks. At launch, the pyramid will be composed of the following:

• Select League: The premier league of Kansas and the top tier of the KCAFF pyramid. This is the pinnacle of competition in the region, where elite clubs battle for supremacy.

• Challenger League: Serving as the second division, the Challenger League is home to up-and-coming clubs building their foundation and chasing the dream of top-tier competition.

Each league will initially consist of 10 clubs, all based within the Kansas City metro area or its immediate surrounding region. This localized approach keeps costs low and community involvement high.

Promotion and Relegation: A Merit-Based System

At the conclusion of each season, KCAFF’s commitment to meritocracy shines through:

• The bottom two teams in the Select League will be relegated to the Challenger League.

• The top finisher in the Challenger League will earn automatic promotion to the Select League.

• The 2nd and 3rd place finishers in the Challenger League will play a single playoff match to determine the second promotion spot.

This structure ensures every match carries weight and gives lower-tier clubs a clear, competitive pathway to the top.

Now Accepting Challenger League Club Applications

With the pyramid structure set to launch officially in Spring 2026, KCAFF is now actively accepting applications for new Challenger League clubs.
