Cameroon Joins KCAFF: A Milestone for African Football in Kansas City

In a historic move, Cameroon has become the fifth African team to join the Kansas City Association Football Federation (KCAFF), marking a significant step towards the federation's goal of expanding to at least eight African teams.

The announcement comes ahead of KCAFF's second tournament, the KC Africa Cup of Nations, scheduled for 2024. Cameroon's entry into the federation follows the success of KCAFF's inaugural tournament, the KCAFF 2022 World Cup Olathe, where the African nation Algeria made an impressive run, finishing as the runner-up.

Cameroon made its debut on the KCAFF stage this past weekend in a friendly match against Haiti, unfortunately falling short with a 4-1 scoreline. Despite the initial setback, fans and officials are optimistic about Cameroon's future performances in the upcoming tournaments.

President Brandon Fisher shared his enthusiasm, stating, "I am so excited to see Cameroon join KCAFF! There is such a rich history of soccer in Cameroon, and I have no doubt our local version will be just as exciting to watch as the FIFA Cameroon National team."

KCAFF is actively pursuing the addition of more African teams to reach its goal of eight participating nations. Potential additions include prominent football nations such as Morocco, Senegal, Ethiopia, Congo DR, and Tanzania. The federation encourages individuals interested in creating a new team or representing a local international team to reach out to KCAFF at kcaff.contact@gmail.com.

The current roster of African nations in KCAFF now includes Algeria, Kenya, Guinea, The Gambia, and the recent addition of Cameroon. This diverse lineup promises to bring a global flavor to the Kansas City football scene, showcasing the beauty and talent of African football.
