HUTCHINSON, KS — A new chapter in Hutchinson's sporting identity has begun with the announcement that Aaron Howe will serve as the inaugural President of FC Salzstadt, the first official club of the newly forming Wichita Oberliga. FC Salzstadt, proudly representing the Salt City, is setting out to become a powerhouse in a league modeled after Germany’s supporter-owned football system.
The Wichita Oberliga introduces a unique twist to the regional soccer scene by embracing the German model of member and supporter ownership, giving fans a voice and a stake in the club’s direction from day one. At the forefront of this vision is Aaron Howe, a lifelong member of the Kansas soccer community, who brings decades of experience and passion to the role.
A Vision Rooted in Community
“I’ve been following the Select League for some time and love seeing the success and opportunity coming into the area,” Howe shared. “Hutchinson is due for some expansion. This is a very select market, but the sport and the fans are salivating for this.”
FC Salzstadt—named in homage to Hutchinson’s proud nickname, “Salt City” and German heritage—is aiming to do more than just compete. Howe wants the club to build a legacy both on and off the pitch, fostering a deep connection between players and the community they represent.
“Community itself will be a core value,” he said. “I think of clubs from Europe that may not be in a large metropolitan area but draw from local communities surrounding to make a large impact.”
Business Acumen Meets Soccer Passion
In addition to his background in competitive soccer and coaching, Howe brings extensive leadership experience from the insurance industry. He believes that this business mindset, paired with his deep roots in the Kansas soccer scene, positions him to lead a club that balances financial sustainability with grassroots engagement.
“Ultimately, business is business. The club will have to be reflective of that,” Howe explained. “I feel I’m well positioned with positive relationships, family, and faith that this will succeed.”
Howe’s soccer résumé is equally impressive. From playing for top Kansas state teams and achieving national championship recognition at the collegiate level, to coaching at local clubs and youth levels, he has lived and breathed the game. Now, as President, he’s ready to build a team that reflects those values of intelligence, pace, and mental strength.
A Call to Future Supporters

With the club's launch, FC Salzstadt is actively seeking member-supporters to join the journey and shape the club’s foundation. Supporters will play a vital role—not just in the stands, but in decision-making, culture, and long-term vision.
“Supporters getting a voice is an important and daunting one,” said Howe. “Ultimately, the culture will dictate how successful the club remains. We’re ready to establish a positive impact on and off the pitch.”
In the coming months, FC Salzstadt will begin building out its coaching staff and player roster, with a strong emphasis on local talent. Howe also hopes to integrate youth clubs and school programs into the club’s broader mission, creating a pathway for the next generation of Salt City footballers.
As Howe puts it: “FC Salzstadt will make voices heard and be an amazing home as the league grows. We need each of you to ensure the success of this opportunity for the city and what more this can become.”
For those interested in becoming part of FC Salzstadt’s founding supporter base, more information will be available soon through local events, community outreach, and the club's official channels. One thing is certain—Hutchinson’s newest football club is built on more than ambition; it’s built on belonging.
