Wichita Oberliga, under the guidance of the Kansas City Association Football Federation (KCAFF), is seeking passionate, motivated individuals to help shape the future of community soccer by becoming founding club owners in Wichita and the surrounding areas.
In the Oberliga model, clubs are designed to belong to the people. Each club will be 51% or more supporter-owned, ensuring that fans and community members have a majority voice in how their club is run. This grassroots-first approach empowers neighborhoods and supporters to take part in every aspect of their team’s identity and operations.
But before the supporter base is established, initial control and responsibility falls to a club owner—someone ready to roll up their sleeves and build something meaningful from the ground up.
What Does a Club Owner Do?
Club owners are the heartbeat of their local football initiative. Responsibilities include:
Recruiting players and hiring a manager
Securing a home pitch for the club
Following all KCAFF rules and standards
Maintaining regular communication with KCAFF
Keeping the club’s website and social media up to date
Representing the club with integrity within the broader league ecosystem
More Than Just a Title
Being a club owner in the Wichita Oberliga isn't about holding power—it's about building a legacy. We’re looking for individuals who understand that the league comes first, the club second. A thriving, unified league will lift all clubs with it, while a fractured foundation will cause the system to falter.
KCAFF has already proven this model works in Kansas City. Now, we're ready to bring it to Wichita with a renewed spirit of collaboration and purpose. Owners should be eager to collaborate with fellow owners, sharing insights and strategies for building sustainable, competitive, and community-oriented clubs.
Who We're Looking For
Ideal candidates will:
Be self-motivated and organized
Communicate clearly and consistently
Possess a strong work ethic and community mindset
Have knowledge of soccer—particularly the European or German model of club structure and development
Bring business experience or acumen to the table
All clubs in the Wichita Oberliga will be built organically from the ground up—formed within their local neighborhoods, shaped by their communities, and grown step by step. We are not accepting already established teams; instead, we’re focused on creating something new, authentic, and deeply connected to the people it represents. This approach ensures each club truly reflects the spirit and identity of its community.
We want owners who believe in the vision, who understand the unique value of supporter-driven clubs, and who are excited to create something bigger than themselves.
